We hope to match or exceed last year’s prize package of $7\,400.\nPrize categories will include\nHeaviest Pumpkins\nHoward Dill\nLongest Gourd\nHeaviest Tomato\nHeaviest Watermelon\nSunflower (Tallest)\nSunflower (Biggest Head)\nKids Division (13 and under) \nRegistration/ Check-in\nContestants may register and check in between 10-11am. Weighing will begin at approximately 11:30. Contestants are encouraged to check in early so we can begin weighing in a timely fashion. Registration forms are available at Fort Collins Nursery the day of the event. \nPlease note a $10.00 scale fee for each fruit is charged for non club members. DESCRIPTION:The Great Chattanooga Weigh-Off at the Barn Nursery \n1801 E. 24th Street Pl\, Chattanooga\, Tenn. 37404 Saturday October 10th\, 11am to 4 pm \nGrowers must have their fruit onsite by 9:30 am and be registered. No entry fees\, Custom trophies! \nAll growers once registered onsite will receive a “gift bag” with a VIP Lanyard\, inaugural t shirt and ballcap\, two tickets for a free lunch (grower plus one)\, a b+ sample\, bagged goods from Espoma\, and Coast of Maine\, and local Chattanooga gifts. Tented Vip seating for the growers will be provided adjacent to the stage with cold drinks provided. Locked and secure parking is available Friday night if the grower is on sight by 7pm. Bring a soft folding chair if so inclined. \nWEIGH-OFF RULES \n1. Specimens must have been grown and cared for by the exhibitor. \n2. Exhibitor (grower) must be present the day of the weigh-off. \n3. Exhibitors are permitted to have one official and one exhibition fruit entry per category. Only one entry per household \nof the same type will be eligible for prize money. \n4. Pumpkin Color: All fruit\, not solid green or gray per GPC rules\, will be judged as a pumpkin. \n5. Specimens must be sound\, healthy and undamaged. Entries must be free of rot\, holes/cracks through to the cavity\, \nchemical residue and serious soft spots as described in detail in the GPC rules located here: \nhttps://gpc1.org/about/rules/ Leaking fruit will be disqualified. \n6. No foreign material is permitted. Vines must be trimmed to one inch from the stem of the fruit. The judges reserve \nthe right to fully inspect each specimen before the weigh-off begins and before the weight is announced and becomes \nofficial. \n7. In the event of a tie\, the prize money for those places will be combined and split equally. Pumpkins and Squash will \ncompete equally by weight for prize money \n8. The decisions of the judges are final. \n9. The weigh off takes great care in the receiving and placement of entries; however\, the weigh off and fruit handlers are \nnot responsible for accidental damage to entries. \n10. A pumpkin must weigh no less than 500lbs to qualify for the Howard Dill Award. \n11. Pumpkins must weigh no less than 300 pounds to be eligible for cash prize premiums \n12. DESCRIPTION:Oakland’s National Pumpkin Weigh-off is in conjunction with our Annual Fall Festival.   This allows growers and their families to be part of the games\, animals\, food trucks and other festivities while waiting for their pumpkins to be weighed.   I have been told it’s one of the nicest weigh-offs many have attended.  \nLast year’s prizes were Grand Prize $5000.  2nd – $3000.  3rd – $2000.   4th – 1000.  5th – $500.\nPlease email skelliher@oaklandnursery.com in mid August to request the 2026 application.
