This is the 5th annual event that we’ve held, attracting dozens of growers locally and hundreds of spectators each year. It’s not only a growing competition, although that is the main thing….It’s also a carving contest, and a kid’s costume contest. We have a live bluegrass band, free taco bar, contests and prizes.
El Pinto is a beautiful venue. They generously give us a large outdoor covered pavilion, with space for hundreds of people and plenty of display space for the pumpkins and other grown stuff. We’ve always had large ‘product’ prizes from our sponsors, but this year, we will be including at least $6000 in cash prizes as well. Allen Clark, grower, and collaborator in this, already spoke with Jacob Marintzer, and he told Allen that we were already approved.
