HELLO FELLOW GARDENERS:
On behalf of the Republic Pumpkin Daze Committee, we would like to update you on this year’s annual weigh off for the Republic Pumpkin Daze Event. We hope to welcome you to the event on October 3rd, 2020. Our 2020 season has been complicated to say the least, I am sure by now you are aware that we canceled the Pumpkin Daze Festival. But, we will still have the weigh in, we understand and appreciate the planning that goes into growing produce in advance for an event and don’t want any of you to miss out on the opportunity to have that produce weight recorded. For those of you that are new to this event, it is a national produce weigh off and growers from anywhere are encouraged to attend and participate. There is no entry fee, and all are welcome.
The following is an abbreviated listing of rules. For a full set of rules, further details, or questions, please feel free to contact a Pumpkin Daze Committee member or visit our website at www.pumpkindaze.com. Also, on the website, you will find a link to the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth (GPC). The GPC is the national governing body for the rules and regulations of our produce competitions.
- No more than two entries per fixed address per category.
- NEW for 2020- Entries must be registered and weighed between 8 am and 11 am on October 3rd, 2020. We will form a line and produce will be in a weigh and go fashion.
- NEW for 2020- weigh in address is as follows: 4370 Repmo Dr, Republic, MO 65738 – Please enter off ZZ HWY.
- New for 2020-Produce
must stay on display until at least 2 pm and will need to be removed by 4 pm for clean up. If you remove your produce prior to receiving prizes/ribbons all winnings will be forfeited.Will be weighed in, returned to your vehicle, you will then leave the weigh in area. PD committee will notify all participants of weights and mail out GPC ribbons. NO PAYOUT WILL BE GIVEN FOR 2020
- MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED– Social distancing will be practiced
Included with this letter is a pre-registration form for your produce that we will be using to streamline this year’s registration process. We hope that this will make the registration process faster and more pleasant for all of you. Also attached for those of you that fill out the GPC parent form it is also attached.
Please complete 2 copies of the registration form for each item you plan to enter
If you are unable to print/copy this pre-registration form or have any questions, we will also have these forms available at the registration tent and weigh-in site where we will be glad to help you complete them.
Thanks again to all the growers. Without you and your support, this event would not be possible. We look forward to seeing you all soon! And always keep in mind that Pumpkin Daze in its entirety is planned, setup, and ran by a dedicated group of volunteers, that includes our local FFA chapter. Please take the time to thank our volunteers for the time they dedicate to this event. And if you have any input as always, we welcome and actively seek new committee members each year.
